In November 2019, the NSL met with with Senator Rex Patrick and he was sufficiently interested in the issue to put some questions to the ABS at Senate Estimates in March 2020 on our behalf.
The NSL later had the opportunity to follow up directly with the Census division of the ABS but unfortunately was unable to effect any change for the 2021 Census.
We believe that change will only come about as a result of further significant increases in the 'No Religion' figure and closer attention to this figure within the government departments making use of this data.
